Description

The Independent Learning Disability Broker Training pack gives participants the skills they need to work as support brokers for people with learning disabilities.

The course runs for five days and is broken down into five modules with step-by-step instructions for running the training. The accompanying CD-ROM contains all the materials and PowerPoint slides needed for the course.

The materials are designed for self-study and learning within teams of support workers, and training groups and people in-house by skilled and experienced practitioners.

Author

Annie Whelan began her work in mental health in the USA, focusing on service user involvement and self-directed support. After moving back to the UK a decade ago, she managed and developed advocacy services for many years, before moving onto national development work for a number of mental health charities. Annie has written and developed several training programmes and assessment tools including: the A4A IMHA programmes, A4A Legislation in Practice, Mental Health Providers Forum (MHPF) Care Pathway Programme, RSPH Mental Health and Work, the Signpost UK Life Plan and mcch’s Lifeworx. Annie currently works for mcch, Signpost UK, MHPF and is a member of the GRiST risk screening research team.
