Feeling Safe – Women’s Group Facilitator’s Resource: Support group programme for women who have experienced domestic abuse guides facilitators to run sessions that encourage women to explore their own experiences of domestic abuse in its many forms, and look at positive ways of dealing with their feelings, facilitating them to support their children to deal with their feelings.
“Domestic violence occurs across society, regardless of age, gender, sexuality, wealth and geography. The figures show, however, that it consists mainly of violence against women.” – Home Office
Feeling Safe – Women’s Group Facilitator’s Resource: Support group programme for women who have experienced domestic abuse is intended to be run in parallel with Feeling Safe – Children and Young People’s Group Facilitator’s Resource: Therapeutic group programme using creative intervention for children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse.
The packs are designed to give facilitators a theoretical framework and practical tools to set up and deliver the group work. The packs detail pre- and post-group activities and the 10 weekly sessions that make up the programme. These can be used in the order presented, as a whole or in parts to suit a particular group. The exercises and information are flexible and facilitators may add their own materials.
