Skills for Care |
Sponsor Skills for Care is the strategic body for workforce development in adult social care in England. It is part of the sector skills council, Skills for Care and Development, which is an alliance that also includes the Children’s Workforce Development Council, the Care Council for Wales, the Scottish Social Services Council and the Northern Ireland Social Care Council. The alliance was licensed by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) in 2005. This sector skills council is dedicated to developing the social care workforce through consultation with key stakeholders including employers, managers of care services, social care staff including social workers, people who use services, carers and training providers. Until April 2005, Skills for Care was called Topss England. It changed its name to Skills for Care at the same time as becoming part of the sector skills council. At this time, Skills for Care remit broadened to include workforce development strategies for all the workforces in adult social care in England, not just for care workers. Skills for Care Vision is: 1. To put employers in the driving seat on social care workforce issues For more information please visit www.skillsforcare.org.uk |
