Overview
Skills for Care is working in partnership with the Department
of Health’s Director General of
Social Care, David Behan, to develop a coherent approach to the development of the social care
workforce. Skills for Care’s particular role is to identify strategic priorities for the development of
the social care workforce to meet the challenges presented by the personalisation of care services
in England. This work is
co-ordinated with the General Social Care Council (GSCC), Commission
for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) and Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE).
The Skills for Care Annual Conference 2008 will include keynote speakers to set out the latest
developments in policy, presentations from people who use services and unique round table
discussions to develop an understanding of the sector’s strategic priorities and the products and
services available to help employers meet them. The aims of the event are to demonstrate the vision,
context and drivers for social care and to develop an understanding of how to make the transition
to a workforce equipped to deliver personalised services. Skills for Care board members and senior staff from across a range of areas and projects will explain the strategy
and provide guidance.
