We turn lives around each day by putting the individual at the heart of what we do.
We provide a wide range of social care services across England and Wales.
Turning Point is the UK’s leading social care organisation. We provide services for people with complex needs,
including those affected by drug and alcohol misuse, mental health problems and those with a learning disability.
Our portfolio of mental health service across the country includes assertive community outreach and crisis services,
supported housing, residential services for those detained under the Mental Health Act and specific provision.
Since our first project opened in 1964, we have prided ourselves on developing life changing services that meet the
diverse needs of our service users. By focusing on the person rather than the problem, we aim to provide individually
tailored care, enabling people to transform their lives and supporting them to be a part of the community.
We work in partnership with a range of agencies and endeavour to provide connected care to help clients address
issues such as poverty, unemployment, homelessness or offending behaviour.
We also work at a national strategic level to lobby government and other policy makers for change.
We turn lives around every day, by putting the individual at the heart of what we do, inspired by those we
work with, together we help people build a better life.

The Social Care Institute for Excellence’s (SCIE) mission is to identify and spread knowledge about good practice
to the large and diverse social care workforce and support the delivery of transformed, personalised social care services.
We aim to reach and influence practitioners, managers and the sector leadership who have responsibility for service
delivery in adults’ and children’s services. We recognise the central role of people who use services, children,
young people, their families and their carers, and we aim to ensure their experience and expertise is reflected in
all aspects of our work.
SCIE is an independent charity, funded by the Department of Health and the devolved administrations in Wales and
Northern Ireland. SCIE identifies and disseminates the knowledge base for good practice in all aspects of social
care throughout the United Kingdom.
Only by understanding what works in practice – and what does not – can services be improved, and the status of
the workforce be raised.

their families and commissioners. Over 76% of our patients progress from low secure hospitals to community

independence and social integration.
Our ethos is based on the belief that everyone deserves a life worth living. Through positive care
and therapeutic intervention we can help our service users achieve goals that they may never have
thought possible before.
Our recovery model is about helping each individual to develop new skills, self-confidence,
independence and self-esteem that not only helps them to get their life back, but builds an
enhanced life with meaning as a valued member of their own community, fulfilling their potential
beyond their mental illness or learning disability.
