A series of workshops featuring Andy McNicoll, Communications Officer, DrugScope, providing a summary of some of the major substances on the UK drug scene.
It will look at some of the major trends in the heroin, cannabis, cocaine and ecstasy markets – the cornerstones of the UK drug trade. It will also look at some of the ‘new kids on the block’ – substances that have gained popularity in recent years, such as ketamine, GBL, mephedrone and the online trade in so-called ‘legal highs’. This session is particularly relevant to people who are new to the substance misuse field, or those who want to refresh their knowledge of some of the major drug trends.
DrugScope is the national membership organisation for the drug sector and one of the UK’s leading centres of expertise on drugs. Publications include the Drug Treatment at the Crossroads report, The Essential Guide to Drugs and Alcohol information book and Druglink magazine – which conducts an annual survey of the latest trends in the UK drug market.
