The seminar programme
Drugs and Alcohol Today’s seminars are dedicated to bringing the most forward-thinking speakers, including government ministers and sector leaders, to share their knowledge and professional expertise, and to offer a platform for discussion of upcoming policy and strategic and directional changes.
The seminar programme runs throughout the day on a first-come, first-served basis, and include:
Keynote speech: update on alcohol strategy
Alan Campbell – Parliamentary under Secretary of State for Crime Reduction, responsible for Drugs and Alcohol
The keynote speech will comment on progress made in relation to the Alcohol Strategy and local delivery. It will also cover how drugs and alcohol relate to anti-social behaviour and the public’s perception of this.

The Learning Zone is the space to find out about a wide range of opportunities for training and qualifications for staff and volunteers and innovative learning pathways for service users.
Through informal workshops and the interactive display area, you will have the opportunity to discuss your learning needs with professional trainers, find out about accredited programmes for clients and sign up to the latest courses and qualifications.

Drug Information Surgery Zone
Harry Shapiro, DrugScope’s Director of Communications and Information, will give a presentation on the key features of illegal drug use in the UK covering all the major drugs, patterns and prevalence of use and trends. There will an opportunity for questions at the end and the session will be particularly useful for those new to the drugs field.
Families Zone
Adfam is about to become a membership body for organisations and practitioners working with families and for family members themselves.
The Families Zone will be hosted by Adfam and will provide an opportunity to consult with families, to hear the views and experiences with a view to informing and influencing the way the new membership organisation will develop.
