Social work has only recently become a regulated profession but what does this mean in terms of the standards and values expected of those who work in it? The General Social Care Council’s (GSCC) annual conference will provide social workers with the opportunity to explore what it means to be part of a profession, and to learn about the current reforms in social work that aim to make it a profession to be proud of.

Aims of the conference

• To explore the standards and values of the social work profession
• To look at the contribution the profession makes to empowering and enriching people’s lives.
• To provide practical exploration of current reforms in social work and what they mean for those working in it
• To look at how to continue to raise professional standards and accountability to meet the needs of individuals, families and communities
