For over 25 years Pavilion Publishing has produced trainer packs, workbooks, handbooks and multimedia training materials for staff supporting people with learning disabilities. And in tandem with its publications, Pavilion has provided high quality events including our flagship exhibition Learning Disability Today.

From this background, we are now launching a series of roadshows focussing on specialist areas for ongoing training and development. Recent exposure of gross malpractice at a residential facility for people with learning disabilities has highlighted the importance of ensuring staff have the right attitude, tools and skills for the job.

These roadshows will bring the latest expert thinking and practice improvement to your door.

All organisations employing staff and volunteers supporting people with learning disabilities must establish and maintain diligent recruitment processes; provide well-designed and timely induction programmes; deliver ongoing training and support of staff equipping them to work in challenging situations with a person-centred approach and at the top establish consistent supervision and management.

Because of lack of time, shrinking budgets and stretched resources it can be challenging to meet the need for specialist training and support. But using Pavilion’s extensive range of targeted training materials can be a cost-effective way of bringing staff up to speed on a chosen topic.

This series of roadshows will bring to life many of the best-selling training materials produced by Pavilion for staff supporting people with learning disabilities. The majority of the sessions will be presented by authors who are expert in their subjects and from centres of excellence such as the Estia Centre and the Tizard Centre.

As well as hearing each presentation, and participating in interactive exercises, delegates will have the chance to examine the training packs and materials available during breaks.
