Contains independent learning activities that complement the training sessions by addressing some aspects of the learning outcomes that are not covered in the group time, and by encouraging the student to explore and apply the practical activities and underpinning knowledge within their own work context. The independent learning activites can be used to produce evidence for assessment. The Certificate comprises five units:

1. Principles of Human Development and Learning
2. Introduction to Providing Structured Supported Learning
3. Effective Communication
4. The Working Environment
5. Developing as a Support Worker

The training sessions focus on key aspects of the learning outcomes for each unit, complementing the learning students will do on their own.
