This report was produced with funding from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation after consultation with disabled people about how they want service providers to support their sexual rights. The book will be of use to a broad range of service providers, including user-led networks and services, mainstream agencies which provide advice and counselling in relationship issues, disability related organisations which provide ordinary services such as accommodation or personal assistance and specialist organisations which provide counselling to disabled people about sexuality and relationships specifically. The book includes ideas for discussion and agenda setting. It sets out in a charter key principles including a rights model which emphasises autonomy, visible role models, user-led services, access to a broad range of services which regularly evaluate their service provision and staff roles which focus on assistance rather than care. Professionals within the social care sector are required to undertake Continuous Professional Development (CPD) by the General Social Care Council (GSCC). Those who use this resource will be able to gain CPD points.
